A fraction represents a part of a whole or, more generally, any number of equal parts. When spoken in everyday
English, a fraction describes how many parts of a certain size there are, for example, one-half, eight-fifths,
three-quarters.
The bottom of a fraction is called the denominator and it represents the number of equal parts in the whole.
The top of a fraction is called the numerator and it represents number of those equal parts you are talking
about.
